Church Project Projects

The Church Project fosters an intergenerational space. All ages are welcome and youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a trusted adult. 

Weekly Programs

 

Wednesday Figure Drawing with Kris Gosar: 5:30pm - 8:30pm

This invitation only drawing and painting session meets once a week on Wednesday evenings. This opportunity welcomes a live model to pose anywhere from 2 minute “quick poses” to a series of 25 minute “long poses”. This is not an instruction based session, artists must provide their own materials. 

Cost $20.

1st, 2nd, 4th Thursday Sustainable Crafting with Sarah Shapard: 5:30pm - 7pm

This weekly workshop is lead by Church Project Artist Sarah Shapard. Sarah welcomes all ages and skill levels to come and learn how to create art from recycled materials in an inclusive and low key environment to then take home a one of a kind work of art in under 3 hours! 

All materials are provided for this artist lead workshop.

Friday Open Studio: 3pm - 6pm

Open Studio is a weekly opportunity for community members to create, connect, and play with materials and artistic mediums of their choice, or bring a project they are currently working on. 

Acrylic paint, watercolor, collage materials, colored pencils/markers, and paper are supplies available for community use.

Sunday: Artist-led Workshop 1pm - 4pm

“Sunday School” is a weekly artist lead workshop that varies in instruction and medium. The Church Project team works with local artists and invites them to host a workshop in the medium of their choice. Each Sunday is different, welcoming new perspectives, skill levels, and material meaning. 

All materials provided.

Monthly/Bi Monthly Programs

1st and 3rd Sunday Dance Church with Tim Seabold and Emily Trinkaus 10:30am - 12pm​

Get out of the head and into the body. Tim and Emily invite all ages and skill levels to participate in the five rhythms of ecstatic dance by connecting to music through the healing art of dance. You may move in anyway that feels comfortable to you, the atrium is yours. Shoes and socks optional, and please no talking on the dance floor while in session.

This event does not have any religious affiliation, come as you are.

2nd Sunday Valley Libre Open Mic with Kevin Hernandez/L8gacy Project 6pm - 8:30pm

Join us every second Sunday of the month for Valle Libre Open Mic, a vibrant evening of music, poetry, and community. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just finding your voice, this is your space to share and connect. Valle Libre is open to musicians, poets, storytellers, and artists of all kinds—or simply come to listen and support the creative energy. All are welcome. All are valued.

3rd Tuesday Epilogue Circle, a  book club with Kim Marquez 6pm - 8pm

Join us in the power of literature, Welcome to The Epilogue Circle - a book club where every book finds its final word. Each month the group votes on a book to read, and we meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month to discuss, listen, drink tea and have snacks. NOTE: If you don’t get to read or finish it, no worries, please come anyway. AND, we may spoil it for you by discussing it, including the ending.

3rd Thursday Playful writing with Jean Alger, PhD. 6pm - 8pm

Come write with Church Project Artist Jean Alger, PhD. This workshop has simple guidelines; get comfortable, turn off your inner skeptic, tap into your beginner’s mind, focus on creating - not editing or perfecting, ask questions, go with your first thoughts - first feelings, be kind and supportive to self and others, and give each step your full attention. 

Ages 12+ recommended

Last Friday BASSment Dance Party with Rabbit Road 8pm - Midnight. 

Join us in a new collaborative series with Haunted Highway the last Friday of every month for a BASSment Dance Party. We're featuring a rotating cast of DJ's and electronic musicians from the SLV and beyond, doors open at 7, and an open invitation to any dj's/live PA to jump on our open decks (bring your own rig) from 7-8. If you would like a full 30 minute set, contact Haunted Highway on Facebook to inquire. 

Alcohol free space.
