Summer Ambassadorship

Calling High School Students of the San Luis Valley!

 

The Church Project Community Art Center is located in Monte Vista in the 115-year-old First Baptist Church that has been undergoing a creative transformation to provide the space and freedom for all people to unlock their creative potential. 

 

The Church Project has been awarded funds from LOR Foundation to hire two youth ambassadors to learn from local professionals about journalism, storytelling through photography and video, and what it means to authentically engage and build trust in their communities. 

 

Youth are encouraged to apply if they are passionate about creative freedom, art, photography, community and writing. 

​

  • An $820 stipend will be awarded to two selected Ambassadors

  • Four training sessions will be provided (required) for Ambassadors

  • Contributions to two monthly newsletters

  • One 3,000 word essay about lived experience or interest story that will be published via Alamosa Citizen


Application requirements (2 pages max):
ā— Your name
ā— Your phone number/email
ā— A personal statement; describe yourself, what are you curious to learn?
ā— How do you function in a team environment?
ā— Are you comfortable talking to someone you’ve not met before?


Additional requirements (not included in the 2 pages):
ā— A letter of recommendation (from teacher or other adult - not a parent)
ā— A few examples of your photography, video, written work, or however you create!
Application Deadline May 16th, 2025
Interviews conducted May 19th-23rd
Applicants will be notified by May 26th in they received the Summer Ambassadorship (June -
July) or encouraged to apply again in 2026.
